Okay, I see it now. You just gave it some dramatic lighting.
My problem with the older style is that there was a tendency to drift from good to mediocre. The current one grounds me to a fixed standard with more realistic characters.

Re: Ferres; bonkers, updates and stuff
Actually, real stuff is not good enough so we must created comic.
- For example, all t@rture stuff on the girl in reality is just gross, some even look fake, and the expression on the girl isn't nice either! That's why we need comic.
- Realistic too much may ruin the comic, the point of being comic character may not be realistic but it need to be nice!
Here is an example:

- Though your way of using crease is quite smart, so my example didn't relate to you at all.

Re: Ferres; bonkers, updates and stuff
I let colors do the 'crease' thing. But removing it all together weakens the expression somewhat.
The 2 scenes there say different things.
The left, pain and fear. The right, surprise or shock.
I'm still applying a lot of the older principles just with a set of new standards.

Actually there're a lot on method of expression, the size of the mouth, the eyes, the pose, but crease may be the final method when you have no other choice.
- As in here, instead of using crease, I increased open size of the mouth to express the scream and uncomfortable feel into those eyes.
- In the green girl, there isn't much of her face showed, but we have a nice struggle pose, isn't it?

There is a lot in the methods of expression, many are subtle though.
The green girl is actually saying a lot more than the other 2. With the other 2 being more primal, hers shows some level of thought and contemplation. Blind folded one seems to be laughing.

Actually the blindfold one was original image, and those girl wihout blindfold is my quick edited version. Eyes and brows may be the most important part of expression, using blindfold while t@rture some one is just boring and stupid!

Blindfolds don't work for me either. But a full hood cover on the head is different. It creates a more foreboding and striking image.
It suggests the dehumanization of a person and people react to it strongly.

Re: Ferres; bonkers, updates and stuff
I think those were done before the new rules came to effect.
You can have gore if it's not sexualized. If it's something you'll find in a Ruggero Deodato or Eli Roth movie, it should be okay. Being truly part of a narrative helps. I generally don't do gore for the sake of gore. At least not anymore.
I actually asked Nuria about a scene in Red with the decapitation of the 2 Volva. That scene was suppose to have some tentacle action too. She said it was okay. But in the end I felt the tentacle stuff was unnecessary so it went the way it did.

So did the comic fine with bruised instead of blood?? Because since after those t@rture, without a single scratch on the skin is just ridiculous!
