DC comics have a new digiatl format they are using at the moment where you get a 30 page comic released in essentially 10 page 'episodes'.
Its faster and works quite well in the digital format.
I could see something like this working provided the ten page content didn't include six pages of DoFantasy adverts, two disclaimer pages and the cover!

I'm conflicted about this. On the one hand, I like getting more Fernando comics, but I do like getting quite a bit of content whenever a new one is released.
Fernando, speaking about your terrific covers: how long does it take to design one from start to finish?

Sounds interesting... though I'll probably have a problem with a single story done 10 pages at a time. I tend to edit a lot before finalizing the story. That's one reason I don't have a membership website with serialized stories.Sarenaph wrote:DC comics have a new digiatl format they are using at the moment where you get a 30 page comic released in essentially 10 page 'episodes'.

I honestly don't know how long the recent ones took in total, but I imagine some took a lot longer than others. It's hard to time because I don't do the covers in one continuous sitting. I work on it a little bit at a time, letting the design sit a little so I can judge it more objectively. I'd guess it takes about a week's worth of work for each cover on the average. 90% of that time is spent sketching and deciding on which design to go with.Demosthenes wrote:I'm conflicted about this. I used to do the covers after finishing the comic, but now I do them before or in the middle of drawing the story pages. It gives me more time to digest the designs and see which ones work and which ones don't. The SEX WARS 3 cover probably took two weeks worth of work, with more than half that time having drawn other covers that went to the digital trash can.
I haven't started designing the cover for the next one though.

Hi Fernando.
Thanks or the Dark Vengens III comic. It was another great one. A question about future comics, is there any chance of a continuation of the Invaders series in the cards?
cheers

I can't speak for Fernando if he will or not. But it would be tricky compared to some of his other comics. The "story" of Invaders is the main character discovering what her world is all about. The slave trade in reverse. That story is done for all intents and purposes.
Similar idea with Confiscated Twins. Comic 4 leaves a clear idea where future events are going. There's a little more wiggle room with divorcing a wife and getting the kid's favor. But still not a lot compared to other options. Even in the Caribbean, mother and daughters are enslaved. That's a clear indicator of their future.
I'm not saying he "can't" continue invaders. I'm just saying he would have to create new narratives around the African setting. Perhaps the invasion of Europe, but you can image how long that would go.

That's about my opinion too. The amount of content makes enjoying each comic a "special event." But that's an inherent give and take of all comics. There's something to be said of a few weeks or shorter months to receive new material.Demosthenes wrote:I'm conflicted about this. I hope it works for Fernando's purposes. Successful use will make moving between and releasing comics a lot easier. His style lends itself to this approach as well. One current comic comprises a set of four or five (more or less) scenarios highlighting each slave's plight. My only concern might be how well those scenarios "connect" when developed in a more isolated manner.

No, I have no plans to continue it at this point. That doesn't mean "never" but it means I want to give more opportunities for new series/stories.Thon wrote:Hi Fernando.

Well similar case with Deadshark Island. Though for different reasons there. (The lackluster sales mentioned earlier.) I'll just be happy when cheerleaders starts seeing it's conclusion across the Mexican boarder. Sex Wars indeed proves group situatons take nothing away from the more focused aspects of your comics. And that will likely happen given the series popularity.fernando wrote: No, I have no plans to continue it at this point. On a wild guess, Cheerleaders probably won't be immediately next though. I could be wrong, but my artist instincts say the new format is a hefty risk to try and apply to an established series. Maybe after seeing how the format does. On the other hand an established series attracts attention and better sales. But I'm playing a fools game predicting the future here. So I'm banking neither to bets.

Hi, Fernando!
A suggestion from me:
Could you bring a girl like Jack from Mass Effect 2 in one of your next comics (but with greater tits)?

You know, I like variety and changing only the color of the hair is not enough for me
.
And she is of course very feisty and has to be tamed by one or more men.

Ok, I don't usually say no outright when there's a chance, but that 'girl' sports two of the least sexy features on a female for me -- tattoos and a skin head. So I'm sorry, no, you won't be seeing anything resembling that girl from me. Even if I did like tattoos I wouldn't t@rture myself drawing that!Hi, Fernando!
