Naj, by chance I found you here as my Poet!
Your extensive narrative to my very long picture story I find a ingenious addition. I just had to say!
The discussion about comic format would be very interesting for me at the moment.
My first comic is in progress with more text as usual.
Whether there is space in a comic for a well-written story, I would be interested.

Why thank you, Tryten. It's not often a ghostwriter gets praise for work, but I guess that just means I'm doing my job. I'm glad you enjoyed the work I did for your Confessions of Guilt. It was always a challenge with every set to make something cohesive, and after a certain point I had to make a little "cheat sheet" document for myself since there were so many characters with different personalities, but it sounds like I pulled it off!

I had posted something regarding comic formats in another forum (here being the thread link: http://dofantasyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1412), but one of the biggest challenges to making a comic is making sure you control the flow of the viewer's eye in a manner which maintains narrative consistency, and even veteran comic book artists make mistakes sometimes. It's something I learned from my time pursuing an art degree and use often when placing word balloons.

Whether there is space in a comic for a well written story is ultimately up to you, the artist. The more "empty" space you provide, the more likely I can place larger word and narrative text balloons, though not all writers will take advantage of this. For instance, if the girl(s) take(s) up over 50% of the panel, it makes it difficult to place anything but the barest essentials in that particular panel. The more open space you have that is not dedicated to set pieces or focal points (e.g. buildings, entryways, important secondary characters, or props like whips or chains or dildos) the more space I have to create a story. So blank walls are a great place for me to work "the craft" as it were (or empty sky, generic forest texture, mountainous regions of the not-particularly-detailed-variety also work too). I've also managed to find space in male bodies (chests or legs are fair game) when I overestimated the amount of space I had available, but that's not a preferable place to plug text.

Since it's your first comic, I'd encourage you to both experiment and look at other artists to see how they manage panel layout and learn from them. Both Slasher and Predondo have a particularly good grasp on image flow, so you can look to them for ideas on how to compose your overall page design. Slasher in particular is pretty good at non-standard panel composition (e.g. NOT squares/rectangles).

I hope, you will admit that's a little bit more as "a job"? Here, I feel you think into the story board. Even in my own language, the sentences would not come to me so. O.K. enough praise for today :)
Your tips are very useful, thank you.

My question, also to all the comic readers here, is particularly:
Is a good written story desired or do you prefer short words in the bubbles without a great story surrounding?

So randomly necro'ing the thread and getting back to the systemic banking policy thing, besides some of the more obvious news posts that have floated around recently, I stumbled across a documentary called "Graphic Sexual Horror" which was made in 2009 and more or less covered the rise and fall of the infamous BDSM website Insex...

Roberts, I'm sorry for ever doubting you. Both PD (Brent Scott) and Matt Williams (one of the premier riggers at kink) explicitly stated the very policies you mentioned (around minute 82 for those interested). Matt cites it as one of (if not the) reason Insex went down and says it's something kink constantly struggles with.

Also interesting documentary.

I guess it's good to know I should play my cards close(r) to the chest, now... :(

Just watched the movie---very interesting and disturbing. The whole "terrorist" angle and getting Homeland freakin' Security involved in the ability of kinky websites to process credit cards---that is crazy shit. Yeah, I don't think ISIS is funding its reign of terror with bdsm monies. :x

Well no, you miss the point entirely....when Totalitarians take over, you find that a certain WORD becomes all thats needed...in Germany in the '30s, all you need be is a Communist, or Socialist, or Jew...it didn't matter if it was TRUE, once the Officials branded you as said undesireable, you were doomed..with no appeal.
In the New Fatherland (Homeland), the word is "Terrorist". If that is the word which erases your rights and your due process, then all they need do is apply that word to WHATEVER THEY WANT. So you have the same..if Officials brand you a TERRORIST, you become a non-person.
And BTW, ISIS is not an actual thing..it is a creation of the CIA formed to overthrow Syria and be a useful tool keeping the ignorant children terrified. the only place they even speak of anything called "ISIS" is in the New Nazi Reich of the US/UK. Nobody else in the whole world even knows what that is. Ask yourself why that might be.
