Sometimes I worry about myself

Post by Jimmy The Wrestler »

Simply put, normal porn doesnt do anything for me.

It seems like I cant be turned on from porn unless its extreme bdsm porn with women being used, abused, r@ped, imprisoned, kidnapped, turned into sex slaves, humiliated, beaten, t@rtured etc... I think that is why I fell in love with Do Fantasy comics because of how sick and twisted they all are.

My enjoyment of this stuff however is completely the opposite of how I treat women in real life which is what worries me. I feel like I shouldnt enjoy this kind of stuff as much as I do :(

Think of it as cathartic. A release for those feelings most of us have, but suppress.

I have in the past researched the issue of a relationship between porn and real life abuse of women.

Believe me, no matter how much certain groups spin it, after decades of research both by serious scientists and vested interests, no one can show a "cause and effect" of looking at porn, of any kind, and going on to commit acts of abuse in real life.

The fact is we have stronger evidence, though not proof by any means, from a University of Hawaii study, that the more populations have access to hardcore porn, the fewer sexual assaults there are.

We can all tell the difference between fantasy and reality and we all indulge in fantasies of various kinds, including sexual and yes, violent fantasies.

What some find uncomfortable is the sharing of those fantasies. They do not want to admit, this kind of thing goes on in the heads of lots of people and they do not commit harm of any kind.

Psychologically speaking, such fantasies are merely ways to deal with frustrations without suppressing them and causing emotional conflict.

Do not suppress feelings habitually, find an outlet that does no harm and clear your conscience.

After all, fantasies of ultra-violence and murder are common to mainstream entertainment. Putting sex into the mix does not fundamentally change the function of such fantasies.

There is a difference between being a violent misogynist who uses fantasies to picture what he wants to do in real life and being a normal person who uses such fantasies to relieve emotional/psychological frustrations and pressures.

Think of such fantasies as being like a rollercoaster where people feel the thrill of danger, but in a safe way with no real danger.

As long as we are aware that they are only fantasies and should remain so, then no harm is done.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of the Friday the 13th series as a kid and now I'm a crazed serial killer! I agree with STeve in that it's just another extreme fantasy, like shoot-em-up action movies, horror movies, fantasy movies, etc. I mean, if you read a comic where the characters go around shooting people and robbing banks, which is extreme and illegal activity, does that incite you to do the same? No.

I also treat real women with respect and I do support women's rights and all that. I've only had (mostly) healthy and normal relationships and I have been in a committed relationship with a woman I love for over 11 years now. So, one can be into extreme genres of artistic mediums, but it doesn't mean that they will go out there and act in the manner of their interests. It's an outlet. Unfortunately, sex is the big taboo in our society---especially in the United States---and the more extreme fetishes are highly reviled, even though, in their heart of hearts, many people are really into some crazy shit behind doors. It's so ridiculous how extreme violence is totally condoned in various forms of media, but once you show a freakin' tit---look the f@ck out! Think about when Janet Jackson had a "wardrobe malfunction" during the Superbowl halftime show a number of years ago and we saw her tit for a millisecond. Then for years afterwards, all we saw were old man acts like the Rolling Stones and Tom Petty; just to guard against the chance that another tit might come spilling out and kids everywhere will be forever corrupted!

Anyways, it is an outlet. Not for nothing, but the shame you feel is probably in the hypocrisy that you are forced into by society in that you cannot be open about your outlet. When you say to somebody that you watched a violent movie like Fight Club or 300 or something like that, people aren't all like, "You f@cking sicko psychopath! Don't you dare try to beat me up or chop off my head!" But when it comes to porn, people think there's some kind of 1:1 connection between your prurient interests and your potential for like actions. Oh, please. These women in these comics aren't even real, for christ's sake. You can do whatever the f@ck you want to them and not a soul is hurt in any way whatsoever. I mean, it's not even like real life porn where there is some degree of victimization going on, and even with that, the people are complicit with their own victimization in that they are doing it for the money.

So, what I'm saying is cheer up and either accept it or don't look at it anymore. Those are your choices---just don't go watch any slasher flicks, lest you become a crazy serial killer like me!!!!!

And not to go off on a rant here, but just look at the inquisition. Sure, it had some weirdo religious basis to it, but the things that the men would do to the women was the most extreme real-life manifestation of the sexual repressions they were forced into by their society.

To look for "devil's marks", inquisitors would strip women naked and shave their genitals, lest there be a devil's mark hidden under pubic hair. Then they would probe and touch all body parts, looking for more marks. Then, to absolve themselves of the crime of their lustful examinations, they would then destroy the evidence of their crimes by killing the "witches" in all kinds of horrific ways. I tell ya, if they only had a freaking Hustler magazine around, most of this shit wouldn't have occurred. They were "examining" women and killing them because they had no other socially-acceptable outlet for looking at the naked female form, other than through marriage. So, this was their out---and they took it with zeal, all under the guise of "religion".

Without less harmful outlets, people find extreme ways of dealing with their inner desires. Some of the worst atrocities occur in the most repressive societies. At least I can look at some bdsm shit on my computer in private and then go on and go to work and interact with family and friends and live a normal life, just like everyone else. It's not like I'm shooting up or snorting cocaine or whatever---my outlet hurts no one. So, once again, be grateful for such outlets---despite society's displeasure with it, it does serve a useful purpose.

Do any of you actually seek out women who share your fantasies and are turned on by depictions of women as sexual victims and playthings? I have noticed that some of the most popular cable tv channels which specifically target women have tons of shows which feature women being overpowered, abducted and assaulted by their male captors. Some feature strong themes of bondage and subjugation. In the end, of course the women, or at least one of them finally triumphs and turns the tables on the villain, or is rescued by another strong woman, but there is always a lot of (mostly implied) sexual mayhem in these shows before the happy ending. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, what do you read into it?

Reality can never quite match fantasy. So for me I am quite happy to largely draw the line between the two.

It is also the case that we can become desensitised to certain tamer forms of pornography the more of our personal turn-ones are catered to on a regular basis. If you abstained from eroticism for a time, you might well find that the normal porn' would start to be arousing for you again.

Abstain? Once you go whacked, you can never go back!
